KRL-Measuring-Systems
If you want to assess the readiness for covering of screed more reliably, you now need to measure CM and KRL...
The KRL measurement method is now a standardised procedure for determining the moisture condition of screeds in accordance with DIN EN 17668. In order to achieve the greatest possible certainty when assessing the readiness of screeds for covering, the combination of CM and KRL measurement is now recommended. This is described in detail in TKB leaflet 18.
The KRL measurement method provides the greatest possible certainty when assessing the readiness for covering of screeds with additives, accelerators or new types of binders, e.g. CEM II cement.
The readiness for covering of these "modern" screeds can often no longer be clearly assessed on the basis of the measurement results of the CM measurement method, as the CM measurement allows a statement to be made on the residual moisture content in the sample material of the screed, i.e. on the absolute moisture content of the screed sample material, but not on the moisture content of the screed.
So the question is, how much water is still released from the screed into the ambient air during the drying process?
We determine this moisture status of the sample material using the KRL measurement method by measuring the corresponding relative humidity of a mortise sample taken from the screed. This measured value, which results in the KRL cup with sample material and which we specify in % rel. humidity, allows us to make a statement about the moisture status of the corresponding sample material of a mineral screed. The system is suitable for construction site conditions and can be carried out by the craftsman.
CM and KRL measurement can be carried out in parallel on the construction site, at one sampling point.
The combination of the two methods provides more security and can protect against complaints due to moisture damage.

When the measured value has stabilised and no longer changes (after approx. 15 - 30 minutes), the device displays a meaningful measurement result to determine the readiness for covering.
